In 2012 her year, she received gold in the team competitions and also the floor exercise. For the balance beam, she received a bronze. She was the first Olympic gymnast who won the most medals. In the 2016 Olympics she was awarded an Olympic gold medal for the team event, which earned her along with co-teammate Gabby Douglas the credit of being one of the very first Americans to earn back-to-back gold medals for the team. She also won silver medals at the individual all-around and for floor exercise. In the three years between her two Olympic Games, she took a break. Also, she was a part of gold-winning American squads at the two World Championships. Her first experience with gymnastics began at age two, and her favourite sport is floor exercise. Aly supports an organization called the Uniting Against Lung Cancer organization in memory of her grandmother who died due to cancer. Aly hopes to be fashion-forward and increase the range of her leotards and socks in the near future. Fierce will be published later this summer.
